Developing contextual responses to the abuse and exploitation of young people

Welcome to Delphine, our new Research Assistant on the Hackney project

Hi, my name is Delphine Girma. I’m a Research Assistant at the International Centre: Researching Child Sexual Exploitation, Violence and Trafficking, and I am delighted to have joined the Contextual Safeguarding team as a Research Assistant on the Hackney project!

I am passionate about influencing responses to abuse by developing links between research, policy and practice, and I look forward to sharing contextual safeguarding learning with the Hackney team and the wider Contextual Safeguarding Network.

I work part-time on the Hackney project. The other half of my time is spent on the International Centre’s Our Voices Too project. This project promotes participatory practice with young people affected by sexual violence in Europe. I was previously part of The Children’s Society’s Safeguarding and Quality Practice team, where I developed service models and managed an internal network of tools and guidance to support practitioners and share good practice. Prior to this, I worked for an international development organisation after completing an MA in International Development and Peace Studies.
